Good news. Asia Europe Foundation is sending me to…. Singapore(duh) for a 7day Art camp. Yes u heard me, singapore. Damn it. I should have applied for the next one, maybe it would be in europe. Anyway, it seems like fun with participants from europe and asia countries like japan, korea, uk, germany.
Today’s opening of “Transform” , our end of year showcase was way better than I expected. This is the first time I had to speak so much about my work and the response was great
And there I was whining about how people do not appreciate my work ( or so i think ) but now i feel good. A number of professors from ntu and lecturers in our school gave good comments about my work and others work as well and now I am a motivated man. If anyone is free on wednesday thursday and friday 2-5pm please feel free to come down and visit us.
Its ironic that I write lesser than i do on school days. Perhaps school sorta keeps u better organised for such.I’ve been busy working as an intern in theatreworks, with ka fai’s v.i.s.t.a. lab presentations and it was quite a good experience, learning about stage production and all. It’s very different than that as a solo artist cause everything is more compressed, if u say it , u have to do it. There are more than one people u have to answer to so ya. The performance was quite a success in my opinion, having a good amount of audiences despite the never never ever ending rain .![]()

There was a post party at jovien’s house on friday. Coincidentally, her house was situated near seletar camp, my home for over a year so it was kinda nostalgic ( for a while anyway) . The party was quite good man, haha lotsa red faces and laughters throughout, there were also quite alot of intellectual discussions going on, which was good cause u seldom get so many artists coming together. For me at least. Well one thing i realised, out of the 5 chinese present, 3 had red faces and that includes me after having some drinks. I heard it’s scientifically proven? lol. But anyway, the other 2 wasnt red because one wasnt drinking and the other was tanned. Yi Sheng was totally gone man, he’s a funny guy.Xmas and a new year is coming soon yet again and it’s going to be quiet for me as usual. My results weren’t as bad as I thought it would be, maybe I just expect too much from myself? In anycase i have to work harder for scholarship next year!
Yes that time of the year is coming again. Dear Mr Loo has shot the arrow at me very kindly again to do his posters.
How much of our history do we know? I used to think that ya..i’m not the leading authority in it but i know quite abit but after watching impetus, I realised its all textbook history. Yes, what they want us to know. “IMPETUS’s first presentation explores how insignificant events in our history are being recorded, forgotten and fabricated. These occurrences often escape people’s memories, yet are impetuses to our invention of a vibrant global city.”
While i understood some of the things they were saying, many of the younger audiences had this lost face and naturally the foreigners. Impetus was presented with live acting, dance , audio and visuals and what i thought was real interesting is that all the technologies used were all analog old school stuff. Kafai was kind enough to show me the equipments he used and it was really cool. He had these old gaming consoles he was using for his visuals and circuit bending.
And as usual, whenever it comes to sensitive singapore history. Mda and Nac would do that thing they do, censoring bits n pieces of the show or simply announcing that they had nothing to do with this show. Yi-sheng had to place a pen in his mouth while doing one of the part to “filter” out what he was saying. It worked really well though and it was interesting that i could still get what he’s saying and trying to express. Yi sheng is one funny guy man . He was saying how he wanted to make the next setting in the ming dynasty lol. Not so possible though, I thought. Great show guys.
No photoshop used.
