Finally this is all over! Submission is finally over and I can finally sleep now . After 2 full days of working non stop. And I just got a great news that I’m going to MIT for 2 months of internship!! Wooooohoooo. It’s an all expenses paid trip to america for me . And it’s really great to be able to go to such a good university and learn and interact with the professors there. How cool.
Driftnet was showing from last thursday to sunday and i managed to catch the one on saturday. Directed by theatreworks Ka5, driftnet is a collaboration and fusion performance art by artists from japan and singapore. I thought some parts of the show were
brilliant, especially the part where they were playing with shadows. What was interesting about it wat not only aesthetically but also that the shadow , an extension of man can be translated into something so mechanical and computerised. Great effort actually. They should have more of such performance.
Last friday Takao kawaguchi from dumbtype came over to lasalle and gave a talk on his works in dumbtype and his personal works. I found it very interesting, both his personal ones and those in dumbtype. Both style differs quite alot though. Takao’s personal style is alot more expressive physically , which is clearly demostrated in his latest work ddd. On wednesday, I attended a workshop of his in school where he taught and gave us some insights of space and forms and how these are applied in performance art and dance. It was great. And ya I did some funny crazy dumb moves during the workshop which i hope no one else will ever see. ahha. Takao will be performing ddd in the esplanade in july. Anyone?
