It’s quite a cool place. But I don’t really have much to say other than the works of Phillip lorca dicorci. Some of his works were really meaningful and masterfully crafted and really speaks for itself. In every of his photos, there seem to be a story behind it. Though some of these pictures were staged but still great nonetheless. BUT this is going to be nothing compared to guggenheim museum that i’m going to visit tml. Yes i’m going to New York tomorrow!! It’s only for a day but i have so many places to run. It’s gonna be a tiring day but I’ll love it.
Oh and I got this kaleidoscope which i used as a filter for some cool photography, loved it so much i paid 9 bucks for it. lol
All of us took a break today and headed to the very anticipated Six flags amusement park. Honestly for someone who has been to Disneyland and Universal studios, I was not too impressed with the size and attractions. There were a couple of noteworthy rides and points though. I’ve been to a couple of different theme parks before but I must say i found the most scary ride in my life from Six flags. “Superman - Ride of steel” is a super duper high roller coaster ride of 210 feets high and it is scary when u look at it anywhere. Lol , it was fun though I wouldn’t take it a second time in a day. Man if i ever take that ride as a newbie I would probably die.
I chanced upon this penang restaurant this afternoon while wandering around and trying to decide where to have my lunch. So I was like wow I hope they have penang laksa and they really did! That must be one of the biggest discovery in boston ever and the thing is, the penang laksa here is better than most than i can get in singapore! Like real authentic stuff man. So it was a happy lunch for me though i perspired lots cause of it.
Harry potter came up next, movie screenings here are a lill late than those in singapore and it’s really interesting how their system works. Here people are forced to be there on time and early because if they don’t , they get no good seats. It’s free seatings can u believe it. lol. Good thing i was there earlier. I thought this harry potter was good as well, very much like how i imagined it to be when i was reading the book only that every1 was growing so fast lol. The story really goes darker n darker from here on, for the benefit of those who have not read the book, I shall not spoil it for u guys. Just be warned that its sad. But nice.
I wonder if it happens to anyone else but i have this post-transformers effect that occurs whenever i see a truck or nice car. I would say things like ” Oh this car wld be an awesome robot” . It’s kinda duh but somehow i can’t help thinking about it. Who else gets this post transformers syndrome?
As usual i’m such a bummer and blogging late. Definitely not your up to date blogger. Anyway I spent independence day doing mostly nothing but chilling drinking and watching fireworks. Just to let you guys know, the fireworks here are AWESOME. It’s nothing like the ones we see during national day, it’s good also but here it’s like 30 mins! Ok talking won’t do justice to it. Let me just show some pics. These are digital ones with my lousy casio cam but i took some cool ones( hopefully) with my film slr which won’t be ready anytime soon lol. There are gonna be some video as well. Be up soon.
I finally watched transformers!! For those of u in singapore , u might think chey im slow. But it’s the opening night in boston, prob because of independence day . What i have to say is that nevermind the many questions that surrounds it or why some of the looks different, it’s just awesome anyway. I guess i’m saying this because it really made me feel that I was a young kid again. It’s really special to those who grew up watching transformers and there were many of such in the cinema with me today, all those grown up americans and we cheered the moment we saw optimus prime. This show is kinda hillarious also, like how our super macho robot heroes ended up having to hide in such awkard positions because of a few puny humans. haha. It’s just awesome.
Mr dua tau( yihua ) kinda reminded me that I might just forget bits and pieces of my stay here so I guess I should try to update my blog often. Let me just try to recall some of these events. Some memorable events in the past 2 weeks includes
1. Boston cycling tour led by Scott ( one of the mit professors ) - This totally killed me though it was great fun. First i did not expect it to be so damn long. The total distance was probably 40 km and above. And i kinda got sunburnt because of that. And my butt hurts lol. Well despite some physical damage , I thought it was a great experience overall. We got to see more than an average mit student would see in their 4 years of study!
2. Museum of Fine Arts in Boston - Pav and I went to visit the Museum of the Fine Arts and it was such a great experience . We were actually there solely for Edward Hopper’s exhibition that was going on there but we got more than we bargained for cause they had a big collection of paintings and even relics from all over the world. Other than Hopper’s paintings , they had Picasso , Sargeant , turner , matisse , manet and etc. It was totally mind blowing and definitely an overload of great visuals for me. Edward Hopper’s paintings were really great but I kinda like his prints as well. There was most of his famous works there including his infamous night hawk. Definitely one of the best place i’ve been to in boston.
And on friday our first sprint ended with a big free buffet treat which was so great that I felt full for 2 days. After that meal i had such an after meal coma that i almost slept while walking back lol. ok no pics for this.
Thats it for now. Next week should be happening. We’ll see.
